Bank Nifty Weekly Expiry Day changed from September 4 to Wednesday

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has announced a revision to the weekly expiration day for Bank Nifty index futures and options effective September 4, 2023. Bank Nifty weekly F&O contracts will expire on Wednesday instead of Thursday, which will bring a noticeable change for traders. and market participants, the exchange said.

By providing an additional trading day, the revised schedule allows market participants to adjust their positions and manage risk more effectively. The first weekly Wednesday expiry for Bank Nifty will be on September 6, 2023.

There will be no change in Bank Nifty’s trading cycle. It will continue to have four weekly expiring contracts (excluding monthly contracts), three monthly expiring contracts and three quarterly expiring contracts in the March, June, September and December cycles.

NSE has also announced the revision of the weekly expiration day for Nifty Midcap Select index futures and options with effect from 4 September 2023. Nifty Midcap Select F&O contracts will expire on Monday instead of Wednesday.

The exchange said the amendment aims to provide greater flexibility and choice for market participants and improve liquidity in the index derivatives segment. The first weekly Monday expiration for Nifty Midcap Select will be on September 11, 2023.
